Best Banks to Open a Business Account in the UAE (2026)
There is no single best UAE business bank — Wio and Mashreq NeoBiz offer zero-minimum-balance digital accounts opened in days; RAKBANK sits in the middle around AED 10,000; Emirates NBD and other majors ask for higher balances (often AED 50,000+) in exchange for a larger banking relationship. This guide compares them bank by bank so you can pick the right fit.
For a UAE business account, the honest starting point isn't a single "best" bank — it's matching the bank to how your company actually operates. A pre-revenue free-zone startup that just wants an IBAN fast has different needs than an established mainland trading company moving six-figure monthly volumes. Below is a straight comparison of the banks UAE founders open with most often, what each genuinely suits, and roughly what it costs.
How UAE banks split into three groups
Digital-first banks (Wio, Mashreq NeoBiz) get you an account fastest, with no minimum balance and largely paperless onboarding — the trade-off is a flat monthly subscription instead of a "keep AED X in the account and pay nothing" model. Traditional retail-facing banks (RAKBANK, Mashreq's classic tiers) sit in the middle: lower minimum balances than the big players, still a real branch network. Premium relationship banks (Emirates NBD, ADCB, ADIB, FAB, HSBC) want higher balances and more paperwork, but give you stronger trade-finance, multi-currency and lending relationships once you're established.
Bank-by-bank comparison
Wio Bank — fastest, zero minimum balance
Wio is a fully digital bank built for freelancers, startups and SMEs. There's no minimum balance requirement on either of its business plans, onboarding is done entirely online, and an IBAN is typically issued within about 48 hours. Plans run from roughly AED 99/month (Essential) up to AED 249/month (Grow), with built-in invoicing, multi-currency support and WPS payroll tools. It suits a new company that wants to start operating immediately without tying up capital in a bank balance.
Mashreq NeoBiz — Lite or Prime, your choice
Mashreq's digital business account comes in two tiers. NeoBiz Lite is a zero-balance account with a flat monthly fee (around AED 200). NeoBiz Prime waives that fee if you maintain an average monthly balance of roughly AED 50,000. Onboarding is digital for most onshore UAE entities — LLCs, sole establishments, civil companies and free-zone companies with a valid trade licence. It's a reasonable middle path if you expect revenue to grow into the higher tier within a year or so.
RAKBANK — lower balance, real branches
RAKBANK's business account typically asks for a minimum balance around AED 10,000, with a monthly fee (roughly AED 99) that's usually waived once you hold it. That's meaningfully lower than the big relationship banks, while still giving you physical branches and a business-banking relationship manager — useful if your business handles cash or needs in-person support occasionally.
Emirates NBD — established, higher entry bar
Emirates NBD is one of the UAE's largest banks and a common choice once a company has real trading history. Business accounts commonly carry a minimum balance around AED 50,000, with a monthly fee (around AED 250) if you fall below it. In return you get a large branch and ATM network, strong trade-finance capability, and easier onward relationships (loans, guarantees, multi-currency accounts) as the business scales.
ADCB, ADIB, FAB, HSBC and other relationship banks
Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, First Abu Dhabi Bank and HSBC all offer UAE business banking, generally on a relationship-account model rather than a published flat-rate product — the minimum balance, fees and KYC depth are negotiated based on your company's activity, shareholder profile and expected transaction volumes. These suit established companies, holding structures, and businesses that need Islamic banking (ADIB) or strong international/multi-currency reach (HSBC, FAB). Because terms are individually assessed, there's no fixed number to quote — a relationship manager confirms them once your application is reviewed.

How to actually choose between them
- Need an account this week? Wio or Mashreq NeoBiz Lite — both are zero-balance and largely digital.
- Want to avoid a monthly fee and can hold a balance? RAKBANK's lower threshold is easier to clear than the bigger banks' AED 50,000+.
- Already trading at volume, or need trade finance/lending down the line? Emirates NBD, ADCB or FAB build a stronger long-term banking relationship, even though onboarding takes longer.
- Need Islamic banking? ADIB is the natural starting point among the majors.
- Running an international business with multi-currency needs? HSBC and FAB have the deepest cross-border reach.
What every bank checks, regardless of which you pick
Every UAE bank runs the same underlying Know Your Customer (KYC) and anti-money-laundering checks under Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) oversight — a valid trade licence alone doesn't guarantee approval anywhere. The documents, the business-activity story, and how "real" your operating footprint looks matter more than which bank you approach. How Avyanco helps
Rather than applying to one bank and hoping, Avyanco maps your company against a panel of local, international and digital banks, prepares a clean KYC file up front, and introduces you to the bank most likely to approve your specific profile — see our business bank account service for how the introduction process works. We also help structure the underlying company correctly during mainland or free-zone formation, since your company type and activity affect which banks will take you on.
