Emirates ID Status Check: Track Your Card Online (2026 Guide)
Check your Emirates ID status in a minute on the ICP portal or UAEICP app — enter your PRAN application number under ID Card Services → Application Status. This guide covers each status stage, tracking delivery, renewal deadlines and the AED 20/day late fine.
You can check your Emirates ID status in about a minute on the ICP portal or the UAEICP app — no login required. Emirates ID is issued nationwide by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP), so the same check works whether you live in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or any other emirate. All you need is your application (PRAN) number or your existing Emirates ID number.
This guide shows you exactly where to look, what each status stage actually means, how to track the card once it is printed, and what to do about renewals, late fines and a lost card.
How to check your Emirates ID status
For a new card or a renewal in progress, track it by application number:
- Go to the ICP Smart Services portal (icp.gov.ae) or open the UAEICP app.
- Open ID Card Services → Application Status (also labelled "Card Status").
- Enter your PRAN — the application/transaction number printed on your application receipt and sent to you by SMS.
- Submit. The screen shows the current stage: under process, under printing, printed, or dispatched for delivery.
The federal ICP call centre — 600 522222 — can help if the number is not recognised. For the full range of things you can do on the portal, see our ICP Smart Services guide.
What each Emirates ID status stage means
The wording changes slightly between the app and the website, but the sequence is always the same:
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Application under process | ICP is reviewing your application and biometrics. No action needed. |
| Under printing | Approved — your card is queued at the print centre. |
| Card printed | Physically produced and handed to Emirates Post for delivery. |
| Dispatched / delivered | On its way to your registered address, or ready to collect at your assigned post office. |
From "printed" to in-your-hand is usually a few working days.
How to check with your Emirates ID number
If you already hold a card and want to confirm its validity or expiry, you can check using the 15-digit Emirates ID number itself (format 784-XXXX-XXXXXXX-X) through the ICP portal's ID card validity service, or check the linked visa status through the same account. If your residence visa was issued in Dubai, cross-check the visa side through GDRFA Dubai rather than ICP.

Once the status reads "printed" or "dispatched", the physical card moves to Emirates Post. You will get an SMS with a tracking (consignment) number; enter it on the Emirates Post website to see the delivery stage, or find your assigned post office for collection. If delivery fails twice, the card is usually held at the nearest post office for you to collect with your passport.
Your Emirates ID number, explained
Every Emirates ID number follows the same structure — for example 784-1990-1234567-1:
- 784 — the UAE's international ISO country code (the same on every card).
- 1990 — your year of birth.
- 1234567 — a unique random sequence.
- 1 — a check digit that validates the whole number.
This number stays with you for life, even when the physical card is renewed, and it is your single identifier across UAE government and banking services.
Emirates ID renewal — deadline and late fine
For residents, the Emirates ID validity is tied to your residence visa; for citizens it runs in multi-year cycles. You have 30 days from the expiry date to renew before a late fee applies — typically AED 20 per day, capped at AED 1,000. ICP sends an SMS reminder near expiry, but the responsibility to renew on time is yours. Renew through the ICP portal, the UAEICP app, or an accredited typing centre.
If your visa is also up for renewal, the two are usually processed together. Coordinating that sequence — visa, medical, biometrics and ID — is what our PRO services team does for individuals and companies so nothing lapses.
Lost or damaged Emirates ID
If your card is lost, stolen or damaged, report it and apply for a replacement through ICP (or an accredited service centre) — you will need your Emirates ID number and passport, and a replacement fee applies. While you wait, your Emirates ID number still identifies you for most services, and our document-clearing team can handle the replacement paperwork if you would rather not queue.
